where to get 1/2" molded 90* fuel hose?

where to get 1/2" molded 90* fuel hose? - 06/14/08 08:20 PM

Figured out the 3/8" factory type line just will not do the job.I am putting in 1/2 al line . The ends going into the fuel pump and the fuel tank looks like it would be easier to make the 90* bend if I had a 1/2" hose about a foot long with a 90* molded into it. Anyone know where i can find something like this?

I am not having much luck putting a kink free tight 90* in the al line.

Thanks

I would go to a local Napa and explain you're problem. He may be able to find one for you or better yet, he'll show you the wall of hoses hanging in the back and you can sort through them until you find what you need. When I built my 34 Ford 3 window coupe a few years back, that's exactly what I did when it came to formed radiator hoses that I needed. Plus, it was also how I found a few other things like belts and such that I could only get by searching through a pile of parts and picking out what I needed. I do remember getting a 90 degree 1/2" formed rubber hose for the power brake booster that was from a Ford Explorer or something. I'm pretty sure I remember the guy saying it was fuel injector hose. And that was at Napa. Good luck. Hope that helps.

If you don't have any luck locating the fuel resistant pieces you need there could be a few more options...If the metal 90 section is only a foot long you could fill the tubing{completely} with sand then make your tight bend...the sand will keep the tubing from collapsing in on itself...Then just use small sections of rubber for the vibration free splices...Another option would be to use the same procedure on the tubing and cut just the 90 out of the tubing and install it in the rubber hose essentially making your own preformed 90 in the center but leaving inches for the connections at each end...I use the sand method on aluminum A/C lines for custom routing and it works great !!! Just make sure you thoroughly clean the tubing out with compressed air and a garden hose or other means you have available.. ..

If you're talking about a short length that connects the pump and the pickup to hardline, I prefer hose so that there's no threat of vibration cracking the hardline. If you don't have enough room for a large radius of hose, use a 90* AN fitting, which are available from Earl's, Aeroquip, & etc in a couple of different types; I prefer the softer turn that's a short length of tube with a Female at each end, rather than the tight 90* elbow, as they flow better.

Go to your loacl Ace Hardware store and buy a coil-type tubing bender- it's usually where the plumbing fittings are located and they're only about $4.00. Slip it over the tube and bend without kinking, then slip the bender off, and single flare the end. Done.

Another option is to use a length of braided hose - 8 AN or 10 AN - it can take a fairly tight bend and you can use low restriction 90 deg metal fittings if needed.

drop me a line, i can get custom molded hoses. these hoses are fuel safe and used by the oems. however they will need to have crimped on ends.
