Why not just use a good PAC equivalent spring?

I may have to use something else, I've have used the Mopar springs on several 440's and I like the way they work on the cam that I use.

Mopar is buying them from somebody - no doubt PAC or Isky or someone else who wasn't the low bidder has the same spec spring.

It would be interesting (and surprising) to see if they are made by the same company from back in the day.
I used them on quite a few stock Eliminator cars (street hemis, max wedge, six pack) in the 70’s and they were great springs.

I think back then Associated Spring made stuff for Chrysler/DC.

I bought a set years ago from MP and they came in a plastic bag. Still out in the shed, never used them. twocents

the real problem with the '933 spring is they get into coil bind rather quickly and are a high rate spring. if you can keep lift in a modest range they are usable. i have some of those springs, and unlikely to use them again. i wouldn't use them on a .509 cam even if the factory says it's ok.. the original springs had a pale yellow strip and the newer version has a green stripe; they're both the same.

As you said, not a bad choice for a fairly limited selection of cams, and not really a good match for anything “modern”.

Back in the day, the MP engine manual was pretty keen on making sure there was “plenty” of open spring load.
Of course, that was when cams going flat wasn’t as common as it seems to be currently.

I think they were specified for the Hemi-grind and the .484. The .509 called for a different spring. twocents
