Modern seats in '72 Charger? - 06/14/08 12:52 PM
Has anyone seen modern bucket seats put in the 3rd gen. Chargers? I am talking with power controls as well.

I have Mitsubishi Eclipse seats in my Cuda. My seats are manual, but I suppose you could make power ones work as well. They were NOT a bolt in deal, but as long as you're up for some fabrication, it can be done. It's a big improvement over the old ones. Good luck.

Buddy, power seats weigh a ton, trust me when I say you want manual seats. I've got a pic of another members roadrunner. He put in reupholstered 80's Charger seats, they look good. But if you want something you can drop in, good luck finding something the right color that actually suits your car. I've heard a few people having luck with the avenger/sebring 2dr seats. Power, integrated shoulder strap, etc.

FWIW, I had 86 Daytona lumbar seats (mounted on the 73 tracks) in my 73 Satellite. After I while the (bun) bolsters became irritating (side of seat cushion) and I ended up removing them and putting the originals back in. So I guess what I am saying is keep the originals just in case...

I think Pro-Scat seats are used a lot in clasic cars. Google them...

I bought a pair of the Procar seats by Scat through Summit. The seats came right away, but I had to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the frames to be made for my 70 Dart. Summit was great, despite the wait and made sure I was happy with the way it worked out. The frames were well made and finished. I was able to use the existing mounting holes but as the Dart had a bench seat, I needed to drill two new ones. I had to play with position a bit, which called for additional washers under one side before they looked like they belonged there.
I will say this....if you have a waistline larger than 36", you will find these seats fatiguing for all but short distance drives. I wish Scat would make them in a wider version the way Corbeau does with some of their seats. If this isn't a factor for you, these are great seats.
I used mine for 6 months until someone ran a stop sign and totaled my Dart. The Dart's frame was tweaked beyond practical repair, but the seats were undamaged and protected my son very well.
The seats and frames sit in my shed. I live in So California. If you like these seats, maybe we can work something out that's better than buying them new.

Last time I was in the U.S., one of my rentals was a Buick Lucerne. I found myself thinking the front buckets would be nice in my '71.
