What size valve stem to use with rallye wheels? - 08/16/23 07:34 PM

Looking for some assistance on what length valve step I should use on a 14” rallye wheel with a trim ring?

These are not the correct length but this is what I would use if you can with a trim ring? The TR412 short valve stems. The originals are I think a half inch longer or there abouts and you may (probably) have to use the longer valve stems.

Rallyes with trim rings used extensions on regular valve stems, so you can get an air chuck on them.
Seems to need 1.25" total height according to some guys, 1.50" according to others.
IIRC, the extensions had white centers, but whether dead-correct ones are available, I don't know.
If it doesn't have to look stock, and the trim rings move around, that could be an issue unless the stem have a steel jacket.
It's been a LONG time since I had trim rings on anything, but I remember Dad's '66 Sport Fury's wheel covers would rotate and cut into the valve stems.

The stock hubcaps on my 51 Plymouth does this. Chrysler made chrome valve stem covers to fix that, still available. No idea if they'd work on a trim ring though

Me? I just cut a length of fuel hose and slipped it over the stem.

Yeah, that'll work if the hole in the cover is big enough.
I suppose a length of thin-wall aluminum tubing - it's sold as a hobby thing at my local hardware store - would also work.
Might have to glue it on.

These are great for 15x7 they go through the trim ring and don’t need any extension. They measure from the wheel surface to the end of the spvalvestem.

Trim rings don’t slip on the wheel because they are much lighter than full wheel covers. And when the covers slip it breaks the valve stem at the base so a aluminum cover does nothing to help that,
