Removing really bad brake dust

Removing really bad brake dust - 06/13/08 04:52 PM

I got a car with silver painted alloys and it seems the previous owner never washed the wheels. The brake dust is similar to paint. Even with a liberal soak with Bleche White and a white scotchbrite pad, it barely comes off.

Any miracle solutions that will take it off without ruining the paint??

There are cleaners made just for that. I never had a problem using them.

I've used Simple Green before with a white scrub pad and it did the trick.

Had pretty good results from a Castrol product, wheel cleaner, it's marketed as safe for all wheels. It's sprayed on a cold, dry wheel then let soak in, and scrub. Believe Mothers has a similar product, safe for all, use on cold dry wheel. I'm really bad about keeping up on the wheels on my truck Hey, it's a truck...This stuff brings 'em right back regardless how crusty I let them get.
