68 BARRACUDA SHIFT KNOB REMOVAL

HOW DO I REMOVE A CONSOLE AUTOMATIC SHIFT KNOB FROM A 68 BARRACUDA? I REMOVED THE SET SCREW AND PULLED UP.IT CAME UP ABOUT A HALF INCH AND THAT WAS IT,I DIDNT WANT TO GO CRAZY ON IT AND BREAK SOMETHING LIKE I USUALLY DO SO I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK FIRST,GETTING WISER IN MY OLD AGE LOL THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!DAVID

IIRC once you remove the setscrew the entire knob unscrews from the shift cable.

68 & 69, chrome or walnut knob, the center button needs to unscrew from the cable inside the handle to allow the knob to be removed.
the button is keyed to the knob, so it will not unscrew from the detent cable once the knob is secured to the handle by it's set screw.
that is why the whole knob needs to unscrew when the set screw is removed.
