There is a Company called Tanks INC. that sells a "meter match that works very well for the repop garbage sending units

anymore, those meter-match items should be a must buy with any sending unit purchased these days, especially if you want any kind of accuracy.

I agree and have lost hundreds or hours trying to get the ho chi min units to read correctly at both ends. Rarely did I succeed.

I swear by this mod that I learned about here on Moparts years ago. I'll never install a new sending unit without adding the wire first. I added the text to the picture.

It does make sense even though the factory units did not have the extra wire. Did your units work correctly with the wire and no other changes ?

4My original unit had a crusty ground clamp/strap from the sender outlet to the body mounted fuel line. I replaced it with a reproduction piece from Summit.

Yes and No. They did, electrically. The float arm on one still needs to be bent. When the gauge reads empty I still have 1/8 of a tank of gas in it. I fixed an original A body sending unit for a friend that I videoed showing how bad the ground was before the wire and steady after the wire.

That's not all that bad. Kind of like a safety issue: i.e. margin for error.
Like the lights they have on modern cars, when 2 or glns left til empty.
And who cares if a full tank reads a smigg'in above/below the F mark.
It's not you're going to calculate your mpg per these gauges.
