I have a complete 8 1/4 posi with 2.71 gears I want to install 3.55 do I need a spacer and longer bolts this is the first time that I am working in a 8 1/4 usely I use 8 3/4 but I want to stay original on this project thanks .

The 3.55 ring gear will bolt right to the Sure Grip carrier.

2.71 gears use the same carier as 2.94-4.56 gears, the 2.4, and 2.24 use a different one

parts can be had cheap for the 8 1/4 (8 3/8) rear if you look for places that specialize in Jeeps, a ring and pinion from a jeep house can be as much as $100 cheaper.
