How do you remove the shifter handle from the shifter?

If it's the factory set-up, you shove a feeler gauge bewteen the left side of the rectangular hole where the handle goes and the handle. This releases the retaining tabs and the handle slides up.

Use a .010 feeler and maybe shoot a little WD40 down there. If it has never been removed before from the socket, it can be REALLY tough to get it out...

Push down firmly on the handle while inserting the feeler gauge, this relieves the tension on the lock tab.

got it out needed to clean all road grime out 1st!
