im new to the 4 speed car stuff so i dont have ay good info, but i did put a 10.5 ram replacment clutch in my 68 383 roadrunner with 323 gears when i converted it to a 4 speed. it does a decent job, but it absolutly wont hold if i have a full tank of gas and 4 200 pound plus guys in the car and i do any spirited driving. i really wish i would have gone with something else now.

i emailed spec clutches and they recomended a spec stage 2 clutch. ive also thought about a centerforce. i know i wasnt much help sorry

What RAM clutch did you get? I've got a PowerGrip HD in my Valiant behind a 300hp 340, and it works great. Plus, I've had good dealings with RAM's tech dept. The PG HD kit I got from Summit, and it engages smoothly and holds tight on my 3600# (with me) Valiant. Sticky tires ahd 3.23's out back.

i just got the premium stock replacment clutch. the powergrip hd looks like it would be a much better clutch.

I just put a ram power grip in my barracuda 440-6 car, It has no issues and is taking a good beating a few times already. But 450 bucks

I started with a Ram Power Grip in my 83 Ram w/360, always held good but was a bit touchy on starts with a heavy trailer behind. Recently put in a Centerforce DF and very happy so far, much smoother on loaded starts is the big issue, also seems to hold just great - never did make either of them slip.

Really test my memory here,
I had a 440+6 in a 67 Coronet.
I think it was the Zoom Purple clutch.
Never a problem, do they make them anymore ?
Did ya have the flywheel resurfaced ?
Maybe not disc at all, maybe not enough of a pressure plate.

OOOhhhhh I had plenty of pressure plate the flywheel has to be resurfaced or heaven forbid replaced as the exotic friction plate did a number on it. I was running a copper-ceramic plate done by az brake and clutch.

mcleod single disc semi metallic w/ belvelle finger style plate. should hold and last.

tghe semi metallic will allow many launches as it is softer material.
