1952 Desoto disk brakes - 05/09/22 03:09 AM

I've considered converting the front brakes from drum to disk on my Desoto for some time, and I've checked around to the major brake suppliers. No one seems to have a specific kit that will work, and something a little more universal doesn't seem to be usable either. Mechanically the brakes work fine, but in todays traffic with higher speeds and frequent braking, they tend to exhibit fading. I'd like to get some ideas on how to resolve this before I hand the car off to the next generation that wouldn't know what to expect from cars of this era. Thoughts?

Try these guys.

Does Desoto share any suspension parts with Chrysler, Dodge or Plymouth?

Scarebird looks promising! I'll check it out further tomorrow. Thanks!

I'll have to email ECI with that question. Thanks

This is the supplier I used for my 51 Plymouth's swap to discs. I had a few nitpicky issues with it.

I have seen Wildwood do custom stuff for Jay Leno, maybe they would for you as well. Never know unless you ask.

I did a Scarebird kit on my '71 D100. Sourced all new parts from Rock Auto and had less than $250 into it. made a HUGE difference in my confidence level when driving it.
