70-74 Challenger trunk pan question. - 08/27/21 04:07 PM

Hi,

Is there a difference between a 1970 Challenger 1 piece floor pan and the floor pan in the 71-74 Challenger. I have a 71 Challenger and can get a nice deal on a AMD one piece floor pan that is for a 70. AMD has different part # for the 70 and 71-74. I have looked at other brands they have the same part # for 70-74. Is there a difference? If there is what would the difference be?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, the position of the shock access plugs changed. However, that change didn’t occur until sometime in the 1971 production year, so depending on your build date, a 1970 trunk pan might be correct for your car.
My ‘71 Challenger with original sheet metal was built in late October and has the 1970 style trunk pan.
I don’t know when the changeover to the new style floor took place but at least for cars built early in the run a 1970 pan is what is needed.

Did they change the position of the shock mounts in the 71-74 models or just the floor pan holes to make it easy to reach the upper shock bolts?

You need to be doing 1/4's also to fit it in there. The 2 piece ones are for not replacing the 1/4's.
