Here is how I repaired my Cuda headlight bezel... - 04/22/05 02:32 AM

I just thought a few guys out there might like to see how I went about repairing some missing pieces of my '70 Cuda headlight bezel. So here are some pics... There are other ways to do it I am sure, but this is the way I did it.

That's pretty awesome!
I fixed a broken air operated valve yesterday with JB Weld. Great stuff! I may use your method to fix the 340 Duster Sharktooth grill I have.

thanks

My wife makes fun of me... she says I have two sayings:

"...put some JB on it..."

and

"...I can buff that out..."

She is right. And yes, I can buff that out!

Great series of photos. Good job!. You should send those to one of the magazines. It might make a good article.

What kind of primer did you use on the plastic?

Thanks

Hey, thanks for the compliments. I just used rattle can primer. On the plastic I don't feel there are any drawbacks. Yes an automotive primer would sand a little better, but considering this bezel should be getting hit with Organisol (AAR)(very rough), minor imperfections are not an issue. Actually, considering the expense and clean up time... rattle can is the way to go as far as I'm concerned. Can anyone tell me why the plastic on the new bezel was black and the plastic from my old one was grey? I thought that was wierd.

Looks great but you should have been at MATS in Vegas. A friend of mine picked up 2 of those in mint condition from some guy from Arkansas or some such place for about $25 apiece! I told him that after that he should go buy some lottery tickets ! LOL

That is freakin' ridiculous! Jeeze, luck b@$t@rd! The shipping on this thing was probably $10 - almost half of one of those. Those are like 1980's prices... just try buying a mint one for less than $150 anywhere else! Now, I did get the stainless trim with this one though... not in great shape but still worth a few bucks.
