1970 B body sequential numbers - 02/08/21 01:04 AM
I was wondering about sequential numbers and how they played out in 2 or 3 plants building the same line of car. did all the plants start at 100000 and keep going up from there, or was each plant issued a run of numbers each day to use so as to not have the same sequential number used more than once in the same car line?

Each plant started at 100001, regardless of car type.
Numbers were plant assigned, not model assigned across respective plants.

I guess that sounds like an acceptable answer. I ask because I have a 1970 GTX that matches another 1970 GTX exactly, except for the plant digit's. his is an 'E' and mine is a 'G'. quite the coincidence I ran across when looking for my original 440 engine

someone on the Dodge Charger site also found a pair of '69 Chargers that the VINs were the same with the exception of the assembly plant B VS. G
pretty crazy coincidence
