71-72 b body plymouth rear valance question - 03/30/09 09:13 PM

a 71-72 runner,or gtx,was the rear valance special for the dual exhaust tips? or was the same as all cars? i was thinking they were notched for the tips but my friend says no..and we cant find pics or cars around to look at,thanks,,moparts! correct tip length pics would be great too!

California valences had half cutouts with no rounded edge

A True dual cutout valence will truely clear the tips

Wish I was at home I have awesome pics ..

It was definitely not the same on all cars ..

Well your friend is incorrect. The previous post valance is for turn down tips. The valance below is for exhaust tips.

thanks guys! the pics were great, just what we needed. this is why moparts is great,a lot of info, and helpful people responding fast. i know the mods get uncomfortable at all the off-mopar stuff being talked about, but this is why this site is so popular, and the other sites about guns, atvs,gm,ford, ect, ect ect...SUCK!=slow responses, and lack of caring, thanks again!

This is the template I created to transfer the cuts outs from a pretty beat-up 72’ “Bright Tips” rear valance to a nice turn down valance , note the slight overlap of the two different cut outs. The primer grey valance pictured above is my car before paint.

Just after paint.

And end result.

well i was thinking of making mine into a tip style, but i just pulled it and it has rust along the top edge, maybe i can repair,but??..so does anyone repop the valances w/ tips? i see that amd is coming out w/ them someday, but i would like one to prep soon, how about the front val? i have a decent one,but anyone repop them too? parts are hard to find here locally, thanks for the help, mike.

From my recent experience, AMD is your best and only bet for a repo; I had heard they were pretty close. Otherwise you will have to locate something used and likely create your own cut outs. No repos for the front that I’m aware of.
