PT Cruiser Turbo intermittent starting problem

PT Cruiser Turbo intermittent starting problem - 09/28/20 04:29 AM

So a friend of mine has this PT Cruiser GT Turbo sitting in the back of his barn I'm thinking about picking up. It's low miles, but it has a problem. It will randomly not start. Doesn't matter hot or cold. He has done all the standard stuff to it, starter, fuel pump, ignition, etc.... Even replaced the PCM twice, same issue.

I've heard this is an issue with them, but I can't seem to find the cause and/or fix to this issue.

Has anyone experienced this in the past or heard of a solution?

Thank you,
Ryan

with all the items replaced, when it won't "start", does that mean it won't turn over, or it spins over and won't run ?
a lot of territory to cover with what is described.

Googled "PT Cruiser intermittent starting" and a number of threads came up.
The PT forum seemed the most specific & knowledgeable.
Neutral switch (AT) and ign switch actuator were mentioned.
Equivalent of a NSS on a stick would be at the clutch pedal, I would think, like my Breeze.
Another site mentioned the cam sensor.
If the car will offer up any trouble codes, that might help.

That's all I got from the owner.

And yeah, the list of things you mentioned is about the same I came up with. So many possible solutions for the problem unfortunately! And all those threads were years old. I was hoping someone in that world might know a more common solution to the issue.
