Thanks, 348, just does not have that RING to it, does it. I am putting a 2005 5.7 HEMI into this 38 Plymouth and am wondering about graphics, ect. I have the old CHRYSLER FIREPOWER script I was going to use on the hood sides, but was also thinking engine denomination and HEMI, but 348 HEMI just not cut it.

For some reason I think it is actually 345. I can't remember the reasoning behind it though.

bore is 3.92, stroke 3.58 = 345.64878 CID = 5.664169 L which rounds to 5.7.

btw,

a ford 302 is 4" bore 3" stroke = 301.5928947 CID = 4.942222 L which should round to 4.9L, not 5.0L....

YOU CANNOT CONVERT PUBLISHED LITERS BACK TO CID BECAUSE THEY ARE NON-ACCURATE ROUNDED NUMBERS BY THE MANUFACTURERS

Someone is, or was, making valve cover covers, if that makes any sense - they cover up the separate coils, etc., for each cylinder and makes it look much cleaning and more hemi-like. If you'd like, PM me and I'll see if I can find them for you. I have a 2006 R/T in case you're wondering.

Every time I come across these kinds of discussions, I remember "back in the day" when Chivvy introduced the 302 Z28. "We" would all stand around and speculate on what kind of "new engine" this might be, all to find in the end that it's nothing more or less than the famous old "301" as we used to callit---a 283 bored out.

Almost! To get the 302 engine Chevy took a 283 type stroke crank(forged of course) and put it in a 327 block.
