Drum brake self adjusters question

Drum brake self adjusters question - 08/20/20 12:39 AM

OK, so I put new brakes and hardware on my Cuda, and it seems like the drums keep tightening up when I drive it. Is it possible that I made a mistake and put the threaded adjusters on wrong? Can anyone verify the orientation? 1970 AAR Cuda rear drum brakes. Pictures would be helpful too.

there is a right and and left side adjuster and if you put them on the wrong sides it will do what you are seeing.

Might need to double check you have them on the correct sides.

Shoot a pic of your setup and post it.

you want the left hand thread adjuster on the drivers side. the left hand threads are angled, easily ID'd by a quick visual

Both left and right are angled but they are angled in opposite directions. The angle is called the "lead" of the thread.
