the Carter AVS ran from 68 to mid 71 till the thermoquad came out so that would be my guess

1968 and 1969 HP383 had AVS carbs, Mopar switch the 383 HP to Holleys in 1970./71. No Thermobogs on any 383 from the factory scope
Is your car a non CA car? If so it probably has a different part number than the CA cars had, same thing with automatics having a different carb#s than the 4 speed motors.
As far as engine colors in A body I'm not sure, I think most of the HP 383 where street hemi orange but maybe not confused
I remember seeing a early 383 1968 Road runner 4 speed car with the Turqoise colored motor shruggy

Cab, it's a non CA. car. The reason I'm asking is the white books show if the engine came with a Carter it would be turquoise and if it came with a Holley it would be orange. Most of the '69 383 A body pics on forabodiesonly.com show the engines orange with chrome valve covers with a Carter carb. Kind of confusing. Thanks for the answers so far.

So, were those 383 w-a/c motors 330 or 335hp that year?
