E-body Holley Sniper EFI tank - 10/22/19 12:38 PM

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has used the Holley Sniper EFI tank in their E-body yet. Specifically, this P/N: https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_tanks/efi_conversion_fuel_tanks/parts/19-136

The part number above is for a 70-74 Cuda. The tank is the same as for the Challenger except for the filler neck opening. So my question applies to both Cudas and Challengers.

What I want to see is how you handled the fuel line routing because the fuel pump assembly is on the top center of the tank instead of the left hand side. By putting the fuel pump assembly on the top center, isn't that going to be close to the shock crossmember? I know on a stock tank, the front of the tank is about 1 1/2 inches behind the crossmember, so how did you route your fuel lines?

I'm thinking about getting this tank but want to have a layout in my mind before buying it.

Thanks

No personal experience here, but a "bump!"

I used the Spectra for my 73 Cuda and it fit like factory.

I used the tank from tanksinc.com. Exact fit and puts the intank pump where you can get to it easily. Jeff

Working on a B-Body where the entire Sniper setup, tank, EFI, Ignition, coil. Anyhow, the tank that Holley sent was a Tanks Inc fuel tank.

Doesn’t look any different to the Tanks Inc unit, I used a Tanks Inc unit but used the Fuelpuck for the pump, allows for better fittings if you want AN fittings rather than push lock fittings

Used Spectra EFI tank on my Challenger.
Very happy with the results, don't understand the need to pay 2x.

We have the Holley Sniper on my sons Dart. He bought a direct fit tank for his Dart with the in tank fuel pump and it was not the Holley tank. I don't remember what brand it was but I can ask him if you like ? Ron

Tanks Inc is what I used on my 68 Charger, works great.

BDW,

Thanks for the link for the Spectra tank. Had heard about those once and am glad to hear about someone that uses one. But have a question: the inlet/outlet use hose barbs. Not to sound like a stupid question, but did you use rubber hose and worm gear clamps for your connections? How is that holding up at 40+ psi?

Yes, using EFI tubing and EFI clamps just like many OEMs use and it works fine now for 2+ years.
Ran 3 steel lines up to front of car, but the short connection from tank to line is rubber.

Use OEM type EFI hose and clamps and you should be good to go. Don't use old school rubber hose with worm gear clamps.

Thanks AndyF and BDW,

It's good to know that there's an alternative to the Holley Sniper (Tanks Inc) tank. Now I also know that hose barbs and EFI hose will withstand the pressure.
