Hi! Need help in deciding ona wiring system !I am trying to decide what company to use for rewiring my 70 Roadrunner 383- 4-speed car ! There are about 4-5- companies to use! out there , example Painless, Ron Francis, American wire, and also you can buy the original reproduction from Year one, that have been reproduced for mopars, ( they also plug in like the originals wiring... so there is no cutting or taping ect..
Please help..... confused if you have done this to one of your Mopars, and your view /experience & result when using the brand you chose! Thank you ! Sonny

I’ve used the year one repops from M and H for 70 RR. They work fine. The only problem is that it is actually for a 70 Charger. They claim it’s based off the original replacement harness that mopar sold over the counter to fit ALL 70 b body cars. You have to tape up the extra wires under the dash for the 70 charger headlight relay. I’ve cut the harness open and removed the wires on two just because I’m picky.

Depends on what you're end goal is. If you're doing a restoration then your have to go with the reproduction harnesses - end of story. But if you're building something non-stock then you have a choice of the aftermarket kits. Personally I don't see much difference between them other than some ridiculous prices. Each have options of number of fuses. ALL of them have labelled wires. Some offer a "dash" kit which is nice since that should be completely wired separately. I have a kit from Kwik Wire - which I bought at a show after a lengthy discussion with the man who makes them .

This above. Also wait for year one to have a 30% off sale, they have them regularly. Sign up for their email subscription.

I've replaced OEM Mopar harnesses, re-wired a '53 Ford truck converting it to 12V Neg ground with an alternator (was 6V Pos ground), worked on FJ40/LS conversion, racecars...

If it's an original car/restoration, use a correct repro harness and a FSM.
For hot-rod stuff, I like American Autowire.
If you have the dash out of the car, it's so much easier.

If there aren't a lot of modifications, as stated go factory ( M &H) otherwise AMERICAN AUTOWIRE twocents

If the cars electronics are basically stock, not a bunch of custom wiring, then use the M&H Reproduction harness. They are much more complete and should pretty much just plug into place.
They may seem more expensive, but way less time and work to install.

Most of the aftermarket kits have options for more fuses and relays if you need them, and they print the wire location on the wires, but the wire colors are usually more of a generic GM/SAE spec color code than the original Mopar wiring colors.
They usually run the wires direct from fuse box, steering column connector, and dash directly to the part (lights, ignition, wipers, ect.) with no connectors between, so there is no bulkhead connector or other connectors that allow you to separate the sub harnesses from the main harness like a stock system. You will also have to crimp connectors onto several ends, and tape or cover the wires together to make the harness. This adds alot of time to the install of the wiring, and if you do want the bulkhead connectors and such, you can cut the harness, and crimp new Packard 56 terminals on to the new wires. You Might be able to reuse the original connector shells if they are in good shape. Aftermarket bulkhead connector shell (plastic parts) sets are a bit over $100. I think about $75 for the dash side bulkhead connector and $15 each for the three engine compartment connector shells. Not sure if that price includes the gasket?
