4 speed carpet fit??

4 speed carpet fit?? - 05/17/19 11:22 PM

Hi All, here’s the “formed” 4sp carpet I got from Legendary. I’m told it’s made by ACC. No hump and way too much material there. Not sure what this is for but sure doesn't look like it’s for a 70’ Bee 4sp! Anyone else run into this?

Never had that problem that bad with ACC.
Some were better than others, but none have been bad.
Worst fit I had was with a Trim Parts carpet, they missed the hump contour by a mile.

That's the main reason I pulled out my brand new 4 speed carpet on my never driven yet 4 speed E-body and bought carpet from ECS. NO comparison on fit between the two.

ECS's carpet is made by ACC by the way...the OP stated he was "told" his carpet was ACC, not defending ACC if that is their carpet?, but I agree the fit is horrible

I know from past ordering experience with Legendary that you have to emphatically specify you want ACC carpet or you will get a substitute ...

I would suggest the OP order DIRECTLY from ACC, and also specify the Mass Backing be applied to his replacement carpet...the ACC carpet in my 70 Charger was a perfect fit front to rear, side to side, as well as fitting all the floor contours

Thanks Dayclona, the billing tag on the box has the ACC label and reference number as well as the Legendary shipping tag. Both are supposed to be reputable company's, neither are standing behind their product at this time, very disappointing! I'm certainly not their biggest customer but I am a customer.

Also, the same carpet kit is about $60 more if you look at ACC direct order pricing.

Possibility you have "2nds"...aka line rejects/old ACC stock? IDK? (Dorset is the newest owner of ACC for the last 5-6 years IIRC)? sold off to vendors at discount prices?

I usually order directly from ACC, either a custom color, or in high cut pile or 80/20 along with Mass Backing, this way I'm usually assured of getting a freshly made carpet, rather than "old stock" that may be laying around

If you've already cut it, generally you own it, regardless...

If you've just placed it in place, I'd send Legendary the pics and request a replacement/refund...

I'll assume your going with a bench 4 spd set up? so you need the carpet to fit the hump contours...you do have a "factory" hump under that carpet correct?

Thanks Mike, presumed I was purchasing new, if they’re selling seconds they should say so. Yup, it’s a factory 4sp car with the correct hump in the correct place. Legendary has a bunch of pics, their story is ACC say’s I’m installing this piece of junk wrong! It’s not all cut up yet just don’t want to get into return shipping etc. Driving season is here now and it’s holding up the build!

Sounds like the quality and customer support has slipped at ACC under the new management, Legendary also not standing behind their products! By contrast, I just received an order from Classic Industries, more parts for the car. I thought one of the items was missing several clips that should have been included, one call, missing items were on the way, no charge and free shipping. That's the kind of customer support that will keep me coming back!
