Best heat control header paint - 03/05/19 08:34 PM

Looking for a quality header paint to control heat on a set of headers on my A100. Are they all created equal? Anyone have recommendations?

Tough one to get a solid answer on. No one going to spend the time and money to compare. frown

In my opinion, the only coating that is radically different is plazma sprayed zirconium dioxide. It's relatively thick and has relatively low conductive heat transfer rate.

The others are all some type of polymer with different pigments and fillers. Polymers generally have low heat conduction rates but they can only be applied as relatively thin coatings.

If radiated heat is the biggest concern, then shiny should have the lowest transfer coefficient.

How well any of the products attach and stay attached is probably where you'll find the differences. But of course a lot depends a lot on prep.
