727 part # deciphering ('71 440 HP) - 02/23/19 09:29 PM

This '71 440 HP 727 has a "L" stamped after the part #.
What does the "L" mean?? I'm not finding any info about its meaning.

Also... Is it possible to tell which car model it was original to with the VIN stamping??

Its build date is 9/15/70

thanks for any info!!

all 727s of that vintage appear to have the "L" after the part number - its meaning ?? shruggy

the part number & date would be correct for a '71 440 4bbl

but the partial VIN is for a '73 Hamtramck car & there were NO big-blocks at Hamtramck for '73

did some pics get mixed up work

that would've been a Charger: WM23U (Bee), WP29U (SE) or WS23U (R/T)

Thanks again for the help.
