What was the largest stock gear avail on 340 Duster/Darts?

What was the largest stock gear available from Chrysler on the 1970 340 Duster/Dart? 3.55 or 3.91?

I had a 70 340 duster with a 3.91, back in 1979. I assume it was original.

Wasn't it 3.91 with a stick and 3.55 with an auto?

3.91 could be ordered with either.

1970 A-bodies:
early in the model year the 3.55s or 3.91s were a gear ratio OPTION
by mid-year the 3.91s became the A31 "AXLE PACKAGE"

I had a 1970 Dart Swinger 340 automatic that was a 3:91 sure grip car , with broadcast sheet . It was well optioned, B5 with black top and stripe, white interior, bucket seats ,console , v21 , hood pins etc.

My buddy in high schools brother had a 71 Demon with 340 3-speed and 3.91, he ruled on the street! I can't remember him ever being beaten stop light to stop light.

Interesting... I didn't realize you could get a 340 in a Valiant.

I had nearly option-less 69 Cuda, 340 4 speed, 3.91, w/ M&H Racemater street tires. From a 1/4 mile stand point, probably one of my slower muscle car's. But from 0-30 mph, it would loosen your fillings. Completely wore out front shocks, clamped rear spring with a snubber about 1/4" from the floor board. I'd side step the clutch at about 5000 rpm, the car would shudder, the front end would lurch up, the mirror would swing back, and the ash tray would flip open. One of my most fun cars to drive.

lets see, Those were the only 2 doors available on each brand by 70. Swinger for Dodge and Duster for Valiant.

On 71 both increased the 2 doors offer taking the model from the other. After this, the Performance was optioned just on fastbacks, not anymore Swingers 340

I ordered 3:91 in my 69 Dart GTS 383 car back in the day. That was the top gear you could get back then in a A-body.

My 1969 Dart GTS 383 4 speed car came with a 3:91 741 sure grip when it was made in October of 1968.

I had a 70 B5 Duster 340 3 speed (converted to a 4 speed) with a 3.55 - what a great car
