87 K Car Weather Stripping - 02/19/19 01:59 AM

Having trouble finding door and window channel weather stripping for my 87 New Yorker. RockAuto doesn't seem to have anything and I've tried several other online sources with no results. Went to my local Chrysler dealership and they laughed at me. The parts guy said they hadn't seen one of those cars in 20 years. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you still have a small chunk of the original stuff, you can make a cut to get a cross section side view of the original stuff. The original weather stripping was probably used on a bunch of vehicles during the time period your K car was built. Most weatherstripping companies have pictures of the side view for the weatherstripping they carry, in real life size. They usually sell it by the foot. Match your end view to the closest thing they offer, determine how many feet of it you need and order it. When you get it, clean off the old stuff, clean the mounting surface on the new stuff, use 3m weather stripping glue on both surfaces and glue the new stuff on your car just like the old stuff used to be. Thank you for your suggestion. I have 1 door that's missing about 6 inches of rubber and window channel insulation. They probably used the same rubber on a bunch of models in that time period.

Check with Marty at Arizona Parts - he might have NOS.

If nothing else, try turbododge.com or turbo-mopar.com for someone parting out a car. Or you might find a wrecker parting out one over on car-part.com

I found two on ebay. I can tell you how to find it, but you have to call me, I'm not gonna write a book on here.

I found the 2 on ebay as well. Still don't know that it's what I'm looking for and I'm not willing to spend $125 to find out it's not. I may just cut out a sample and run down to the local pick a part and see if I can match it up with something.

You might have better luck if you could pin down the exact factory part numbers you need, then use those numbers in a search.
