anyone here install an auxiliary, electric vacuum pump for power brakes ?
if so, what pump did you use ?
is there any extra plumbing needed ?
does this pump run all the time, or is it regulated somehow ?
what value relay is required ?

I don't run one, but I did get one already.
It's from some 'modern' Volvo. Comes with a pump, hoses, T, and even an electric vacuumsensor which switches the pump based on engine vacuum.

is it possible to "over vacuum" a booster if not using a sensor of some kind to monitor the vacuum in the system ?
in other words, if the engine does not produce xx amount of vacuum, and the pump runs continuously, can the booster be damaged ? i'm guessing it could be.

Normally the booster is subject to vacuum all the time. there engine is connected to is and there is a check valve to retain vacuum in the booster even if the engine is off or makes less vacuum than what is in the booster.

So I'd say no it doesn't damage it because it is designed to be under vacuum normally.

We have used a few on customers cars. The biggest issue is they are a bit bulky and consequently hard to hide / locate. They work in conjunction with available engine vacuum or as a stand alone pump. They do have a vacuum switch that shuts the pump off above a certain level. Relay wise a 30A unit is way overkill.
I do happen to have one sitting on the shelf that was installed and removed due to an unforeseen engine swap. PM me if interested.
