Reversing seats side to side

Sebring seats with integral shoulder harness, other then the obvious convenience hassles, are there other reasons it would be bad to switch the seats into another car, but reversed?

Or does the shoulder harness restrain your upper body from flying out the door? I would think in a t bone crash, you have other bigger issues, like the door crushing you.

The design of the shoulder harness is to keep you in the car. After the belt crosses you lap, it runs across your chess, and over your shoulder on the door side. In the event of an accident, it tends to pull you towards the center of the car. If the belt crossed the lap from the door side up over your shoulder it would have to be anchored in the center of the roof, and would tend to push you towards the door, which may or may not have been sprung open during the crash. The seat belts are designed to protect you in a frontal crash, they may off some limited protection in other crashes. But other then side impact air bags, or a cage with multiple door bars and a good seat & belts to hold you firmly, there isn't much that can help in a T bone crash. Gene

Better blind spot peripheral vision by moving the shoulder belt upper seat anchors towards the center, easier egress, never seen this topic mentioned combined with a desire to know why to follow the herd. biggrin

BTW, I'm not changing anything existing, but adding to my to do list on another car that is getting a set Sebring seats, and stumbled on the idea.
