2004 Sebring Transmission

2004 Sebring Transmission - 12/15/18 12:48 AM

Automatic transmission in a 2004 Sebring has gone bad. Not sure what the problem is, the car belongs to an elderly family member.

The car is a V6 powered Sebring 2 door coupe. (I think it's a 3.0 engine??) The garage told me a re-manufactured transmission would be about $3200 installed. The car is not worth much more than that.

Were the transmissions in these cars trouble prone? Would it be advisable to consider a salvage yard transmission? Any other ideas on how to fix it, without spending to much money?

Yes, the 2004 Sebring transmissions were prone to early failure, and yes a junkyard transmission would be the cheapest way to get it back on the road.

also, i believe the 3.0 has it's own bellhousing bolt pattern, so it must come from a 3.0 equipped vehicle.

2.5 and 3.0 MMC motors had their unique trans bell pattern.
