Vapor Separator

Is there a company that makes a correct vapor separator (.060 metered return orifice, and correct internal lengths) for 3/8" line? From what I have seen on every thread I could find, there are some that are 5/16", but is there none that are made for 3/8" inlet and outlet? I emailed 521 Restorations and Classic Industries about this (haven't heard back yet), so if these aren't the ones for my application, are there any? I'll add to this thread when they email me back, because I doubt I'm the only one looking for a working 3/8" in and out separator, so no one will have to worry about this again.

Nobody makes one with the .060 orifice. Franke Baldason has them with the screen inside like original. They didn't have 3/8 out back then. On the orifice, just get a bolt and drill it after cutting the head off and push in the return hose.

I solder up the return orifice and then drill to desired size. keep in mind that HP440's and hemi's used higher pressure pumps that worked ok with a .060" orifice. lower pressure pumps should use a smaller return orifice.

Ok, thank you, the orifice is only one the end so I don't have to solder up the whole tube correct? Also, what pressure would be good with a 440 stroked to 500"?

just do a simple solder of the 1/4" nipple and then re-drill to the size you want.

This is the info that 521 Restorations state on their separator. Some people said they have purchased from them and it seems to be correct.

It doesn't say anything about having the screen inside.

On their ebay the original diagram is pictured, which shows the screen, so I'm assuming that they wouldn't have no screen but show the correct diagram. Also the condition states they're in their original packaging.

So, these are NOS? I can only see part of the ad.

I've done some work with these separators and don't believe they are simply a bolt on and everything is good. the HP440 and hemi fuel systems were a "package" deal. they used higher pressure pumps than the standard v8's. the higher pressure pumps were necessary to compensate for the pressure lose of the .060" orifice. a 5-6lb pump will drive fine (HP440's and hemi's used 8+lb pumps) but may be a power lose (they were for me) vs the HP pumps. if using something like a 5-6lb mech pump reduce the orifice size to .035". I've found the 8-9lb mech pumps need about .075" (or more) to control the pressure and even at that there are big pressure swings at low rpm but will stabilize around 2000rpm at 7psi. of course a lot depends on how one intends to use their car.

Edit: They're repop, not NOS, but still has all the correct specs.
