2000 46re - 2002 46re differences - 10/22/18 02:44 AM

I have a low mileage 2000 46re that I would like to swap out in place of a 2002 46re. What changes/parts would I have to swap between the two to make it work properly?

If they are the same externally i.e. same tail, etc. they should interchange with the caveat that the ECU might need flashing.

Read something about swapping out the two valve body sensors, and maybe a neutral safety switch. Would this eliminate the need for a reflash if these were done?

Pull the pan on the 2000 - if it has the black pressure transducer (it should unless a very early 2000) you are good to go, flashing not required.

If a metal can transducer then you need to install the black plastic sensor and harness assembly from the later style.

Thank you very much to John Kuknel and Transman. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. If you ever need any paint and body advice I am your guy.

Grey area from long ago..... but if you’re changing from the metal can transducer to the later black style, don’t you have to change the aluminum block they go into also as the sensors are retained differently?

Been a while but if memory serves me the solenoids are retained by a small metal clip inside the block and the transducers are held by the metal plate outside the block and work on all styles.
