2006 Charger throttle stuck

I tried the LX forum and got no help. The gas pedal is sticking on my 2006 Dodge Charger. It won't come up when depressed without pulling on it. The engine responds as it should so it is not a software issue. Just the pedal sticking. Can some WD 40 be used to free this up? Or does the assembly require replacement?

A Google search shows lots and lots of the same problem but no fixes other than replacing the entire pedal assembly.
