08 Camry hybrid inverter coolant - 07/22/18 08:30 PM

Just did an oil change and noticed the reservoir was low. By color it appears to be the same as the engine coolant. Is this a dealer only purchase, is it OK just to "top it off"?

IIRC, it has the red LongLife coolant in it. Owners manual will tell you. Saw them mixed a good bit at the dealer before I retired. Only problem with mixing is that it changes the color and makes it look dirty. It's only a little more expensive than a parts house or Walmart so if you have a local dealer I would source it there.

I just stopped at O'reillys for some stuff and they don't have anything for hybrids or even an equivalent coolant for the inverter. I'll just let the dealer handle this one.

Good move. That Toyota inverter stuff is patented, so only Toyota will have it I believe. It's not a complicated coolant, but it is ULTRA high purity & is not "typical antifreeze"
