Power steering conversion question - 06/17/18 03:23 PM
I am going to be converting my car from manual to power steering and have a question about the column. I picked up a power steering column and would like to just swap the steering shaft from the power column I bought into the manual column in the car rather than swapping out the entire column. What I would like to know is, can I install the power shaft into the column in the car without removing the column from the car?

That question might be answerable if we knew what car you are working on. I imagine a vert would not be an issue.

What I meant was can the shaft be freed up from the column housing/collar or whatever else holds it in the column in order to slide it out or would it be necessary to take the entire column out and do it on a bench.

The shaft comes out the bottom so it might be a little difficult without removing the K member - or you could just take out the column (probably easier !!)
