Accell dual point - 05/25/18 01:44 PM

I'm wanting to use an old school #30302 Accell dual point distributor in my 68 project road runner. Do they still service caps, rotors, points, etc for these? I didn't think the cap was the same as a reg mopar, is it?

I found one on eBay for you & it takes 2 sets of GM points, the ones that adj the gap with an allen wrench. the rotor has a wide a$$ end which looks like the ones "joesixpack" on here sells for our dual point dists, not a guarantee for fitment tho.

there ya go on the points (gm, available), condensor should be a non issue & their capacities vary some. I'm thinking the cap is the same. If the rotor has the seperate short piece of brass that is riveted to it like ours is you could easily drill that out & sub in a new piece as needed if burnt/eroded & that would even let you set the tip to cap terminal gap to .015". EDIT mainly it would be are the bushings still tight as the point tension wears them faster than electronic plus performance point sets have more spring tension (+ 2 sets of points!)

These will be Accel numbers, with Delco interchanges.

30302 (all 30000 series are the same) takes

110128 (street) 110129 (race) points ~ 2 sets ~ use: 56-74 GM Delco # D106P or D112P dwell 26* each set, 34-36 total

100107 condenser ~ use: 55-56 Chevy Delco # D203

120123 dist cap ~ use: 55-56 Chevy Delco # D305 Accel used a skinny square cut O ring on originals

130116 rotor ~ use: 55-56 Chevy Delco # D407

Information is from my library of old parts catalogues, a 1977 Accel catalogue in this case.

That's funny, so the high tech Accel design in the 70s was copied from 50s Chevy?

Yep, Accel was all about hype. Many factory Chevy and Mopar distributors were way superior, but Accel had the ads in every hot rod type magazine so everyone wanted them.
