batterys Bosch or interstate

Which is the better battery interstate or bosch,need opinoins and which one would you buy? thanks

I have not had any issues with Interstate batteries.

We sold Interstates at the shop.had maybe 1 or 2 in 15 years that were bad.We run Advance batterys now.Never a problem.I get them discounted because of the shop i worked at and my sons a manager there also.Rocky

I'm a huge Interstate user but you might consider Deka Batteries. Most are USA made.

I have bought 3 Group 27 Bosch batteries - all crap

I had an Interstate battery go bad. At 2 year, 2 months. So, now for everyday cars, I get a 3 year from Autozone. The old Charger has a fancy Optima.

I used to alway use Interstate, but the 2 year warranty is not enough.

Is there a less expense seller of Deka?

Marine versus Automotive?

If you have room under the hood
is a Marine rated Deka battery of adequate CCA
likely to last longer
in the road vibration environment of automotive service than
the generally cheaper auto service rated batteries?

I wish that a 1000 owner group of Cummins Ram owners
with dual batteries under the hood
would volunteer to do a long term test
with both a marine and automotive rated battery in parallel service.

Bosch and Interstate are both Johnson Controls batteries.

IMHO it is more important to get the latest manufactured battery.

Auto starting batteries are designed to deliver short jolts of max power. Deep Cycle batteries have less instantaneous current available but can be deeply discharged many more times without damage. Marine batteries need to be able to withstand periods of time without being recharged, like when the boat is sitting and you've got the lights and TV on, or running the refrigerator. Different designs for different uses.

I have a pair of Interstate batteries in my Dodge truck that I bought in November 2012. They were bought "new" from the Interstate dealer during a special they had on new old stock batteries. Batteries that had sat on the shelf too long and were being sold a really low discount prices. If they died tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised, but they've lasted a lot longer than I expected them to. Think I paid about $90 for BOTH of them.

Batteries have been hit or miss for me. I had one last 12 years in my dart, it was some champion tractor battery from sams. No tender or anything. I replaced it with a napa that went bad just out of the warranty, I think that was 1 year? I tried a die hard platinum in the duster that didn't seem to like sitting for long periods. I brought it back they checked it and said it was fine. I put it in wife's jeep and it's been working great. I bought some marine x2 from batteries plus for my off-roader jeep, long reserve and high cranking amps. Best battery I ever owned but also the most expensive. When I sold the jeep I wanted the battery but I had nothing to swap it out. And I figured with my luck I'd replace it with a new cheapie and it wouldn't last me
So I let it go. I'm not sure I'd spend that much on one again

I read a while ago that advance was going to be the exclusive retailer for interstate. I've been looking but haven't seen them in the store yet.

To answer the OP question, I'd go with Interstate, mainly because they're widely available if there's a problem.
I've generally had very good service from batteries, most are Duralast (AutoZone) or Optima reds.

Put a Deka in my car 10 years ago with only summer use and it's still going strong. I think I may just buy another one this year

I own a 2006 Ram 3500 CTD 4 Whd that has both the original batteries in it, they acted weak last winter when trying to start it without the block heater hooked up so I went to the local Wal Mart and bought two new Duracell, maybe Everlast, which ever ones Walmart sells, replacement batteries. I plugged the heater in and those batteries are still in the truck now starting it okay.
My message is try to find out who makes those Dodge CTD OEM batteries and buy them
The OEM batteries in my old 1998 Ram 2500 1/2 CTD truck lasted 11 yrs also before one went bad, the other one lasted 9 months longer

Cab has better luck with Walmart batteries than I did; in one year, same car, 1st one leaked, 2nd one had a bad cell, 3rd one finally OK and at that they were warning me that they wouldn't warranty it...as though the previous 2 were my fault. There was nothing wrong with that car's electrical system.

Maybe the OEM Ram CTD twin battery manufacturer could be identified from
the detailed style of the Date Code?

On my regular drivers,two cars,one SUV,truck and JD tractor I've have been using NAPA Legend,all have given exceptional service.

I will check when I get home but my 1995 CTD has 2 batteries that are 10 years old and still work.

My 2001 has 2 Napa batteries that are 4 years old. Still good.

Napa batteries are/were made by Deka. I lived about 1 hour from the Deka plant years ago. Whenever I needed a battery I would drive up and buy direct. Great batteries.

I have also had good luck with Optima batteries both red and yellow top.

I use Carquest AGM batteries on several cars with good luck, but I also had a friend that managed the store so I got excellent prices on them. For my diesel I have had the best luck with the Walmart Exxxtreme batteries (their "upper end"). I just replaced a pair that was 10 years old and still doing OK but getting sluggish.

Never put mismatched batteries in parallel. They won't have the same charge/discharge profile which will eventually damage both of them. Batteries in parallel should always be changed in matched sets even if only one is bad.
