I was wondering if you will make a better third light gasket for the later model Dodge Rams? It seems all of them leak over time. I`m sure you would sell a ton of them. Most people are making there own but it would be nice to have one that it cut to fit. Thanks

I have heard that this is a major issue.
I'm guessing it's on the 2003 and up

I Park the truck up hill just to keep the headliner from staining

I believe the issue is with the 09-18 models. I haven't had a problem yet with my 14. The lights have a screw at each end but the center does not. The housing has some flex to it so it doesn't push up tight to the body. At least that's what it looked like to me when I took mine out to change the bulb.

My 2000 leaked. They told me to silicone it - I did and that solved the problem.

My 05 Daytona leaks water thru the 3rd brake lite,so the problem is earlier than 09.After Googling this it seems that this is a real common problem with these trucks.

I noticed on the newer Rams the gasket tends to shrink over time and cause the leak.

I don't know about the newer ones, but it started in 1994. I've always just assumed they'd solved it at some point, apparently not.

'02-up 1500s and '03-up 2500s leak there. My '06 did. Made a new gasket like others. I also found something about sealing the rear window...
Don't know about earlier Rams.

My 13 leaks at the sliding rear window. I haven't figured out how to stop that yet. The water runs down to the well under the rear seat on the passenger side. I have a sponge in there to absorb it.

Literally 1,000 threads on any of the Ram Forums
I caught my 2011 early - Filled up the storage area with water behind the drivers seat , under the rear seat during a down poor literally brand new
I gutted the interior and dried everything out - Lucky my headliner was untouched
I already knew what the dealer fix under warranty was
So Metro self stick weatherstripping at Autozone has worked awesome ever since , just clean and scrape off the cheap gasket first off the third brake light
I cant believe dealers where actually using silicone adhesive or just replacing the third brake light with the crap gasket over again
On the sliding rear window all I had to do was blow out the three water channels under the bottom seal with compressed air
Two of them where filled with black adhesive from the factory so the water could never escape

Yea, silicone sucks when you have to service the light.

To be honest I think it's Generations 2, 3 and 4 with Gen 3 and 4 being the worst.

Same thing for a 2008 Raider (Dakota). One day I notice the stains on the headliner. I made a gasket and siliconed it. But a new gasket woukd have been nice. (PS, Mitsubishi Raider 2005-2009 is just rebaged Dakota)

On the Second Gens, 1994-2001. I take a strip of foam weather strip and run it continuously from the bottom of one side up and over the top to the bottom of the other side. Then I run a strip along the bottom.
Seems to work.

If your gasket does the trick, YOU should become the service parts supplier on this one from the sound of it. DO IT RIGHT!
(mine is a new 2017 & I would just be preemptive & replace the OE one with yours. Who wouldn't?)

Hi Jim,
If you need the third brake lamp assembly, I have one from a 2014 1500. I could mail it to you but would like it back.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Mike.

I have both problems, well full of water and stains in headliner. Where can I see pics of these water chanels in the back sliding glass? I'll scrape the silicone off for a new type gasket also if made.
