81/4 to 8 3/4 Rear 71 B Body-Parts Interchange ?'s

Can I use the housing mounts,U-bolts and brake hardware/backing plates etc.from my 8 1/4 rear in the car now on my 8 3/4 I am about to put in? I believe I can use the drive shaft also from the 8 1/4 in the car. And yes it is a bigblock car. Just need someone to help verify. Thanks

You should be able to use that stuff, except the driveshaft.

The driveshaft might be about 2/3-3/4" too long. The yoke points to axle centerline are different on each rear axle.

Like Rob said, can use everything but the shaft. That will need to be reworked or replaced.

I put an 8.75 in my 8.25 equipped '71 back in '94. I didn't switch the driveshaft and it's been fine for almost 15 years. That's longer than most new cars live.

OK,I need Nacho,I know he's got somethin on this.If I can get an exact length,I'll get it cut and balanced. Unless someone feels like measuring their's center to center and posting it. Thanks all.

The driveshaft difference is only about 1/2" . That close enough to work.
