What type of axle fluid should I use for a '66 New Yorker with an 8 3/4 Sure-Grip?

Standard 80W90 with limited slip additive should be fine. I generally use the limited slip additive from Autozone which is (I think) GM spec. It works fine.
Try to run without the additive and you will get chatter and chirping on turns.
