TTI Indy Headers - 03/05/09 09:22 PM

Has anyone ever tried to install the TTI step headers (2" to 2 1/8") made for the old cast iron 440-1 Indy heads, onto the Eddy RPM's? I was told this was possible if you raise the motor slighty. Sure would be nice since I already have 'em. 440 stroker going(some day)in a 69 GTX with power steering and brakes, floor shift auto. Is this a bunch of BS or will it actually work?

Bigger problem is they may not clear your valve covers. They are designed to be on the extened (slightly)raised exhaust ports. freind had a set on a 440 with Eddy's (standard exhaust port) and he could not mount them on engine on engine stand!!!

They wrap around things fairly tight so if you spaced them out to fit on the block right you will have no problems with them in the car. I got them on a 68 X but with Indy heads. If you had to put 1/4 spacers between the mount and mount brackets I would be surprised

Thanks for the reply Dodgem. Are you saying they might work with a spacer between the header/head(Eddy's) or between the motor mounts? Or both?

I'm saying you may have to space them out at the exhaust ports to even bolt them to the engine.
Then if you needed the motor raised slightly (not saying you do these headers leave a lot of room around things). you could put 1/8 or 1/4 spacers between the mount and mount brackets

I had to heatand flatten the no.2 and 5 (I think) pipes to clear the aluminum fabbed covers. They run straight up from the head instead of the 'jog' of most cast covers.
