73 Road Runner Tach Problem - 06/06/08 12:03 PM

Just bought a used tach for my 73 RR. Works, but will not go back down to zero after being shut off, stays around 1500 - 2000. I took it back out and when you move it by hand sometimes it will go back down to 0, but most of the time the needle gets hung up. Is very easy to manually push it back to 0. Any help would be appreciated.

if is autometer, they keep on last RPM reading when turn it off, dunno other brands.

have you tried get back ign switch to ACC position ( if you are power it from ACC source ) once you shut off the engine, to check if gets 0 by itself ?

Yeah, OEM tachs in a couple of my 80's mopars always were like that. When you shut it off, the needle stays at it's previos reading, however once you apply power to it again, it goes back to zero until you start the engine. Just the way some tachs work.
