1 piece floor pan in 65 Belvedere post car.

Thinking about installing a 1 piece AMD floor pan in my 65 Sedan.

My question is, how do you fit it in the car? I prefer not to take the dash or glass out.
My only thought is to carefully cut it in 2 across one of the floor rail seams, or thru the center of the hump.

Anyone with experience on this?

Maybe up from the bottom?

use some ratchet straps to partly curil it and go in through door opening .

may have to remove door .

Certainly never done this but do you have to do anything to brace the car while the floor pan is out?

Take out the windshield. I've installed many AMD one piece interior floors.
I did one in a 64 Plymouth recently too.
Hardtops can go in from the side no problem, but on a sedan or wagon, through the windshield is about the only way to get it in.

I put a one piece pan in my 65 coronet wagon.
took the pass front door off it slid rite in.
4 door and wagon pans are the same.
and the back seat pans consist of 2 pieces. you knew that.

Yea, I was thinking about the windshield also. The car is complete with engine and trans installed. Really not wanting to take to many things apart.

To help clarify the piece your wanting to replace, is it the piece under the drivers and passenger feet that is welded onto the pinch weld seam on the firewall and goes back behind the front seat?
As far as cutting it into two pieces I wouldn't do that due to loosing the stiffness of the stamp one piece front floor pan
Buy the part first and then take a hard look at it before deciding anything on how to start or install it
I'm thinking you can carefully drill all the stock spot welds out and then remove the bad pieces of the old floor completely and then see about fitting the new floor pan up though that hole

You maybe able to angle up through the bottom after the old floor is out. On post cars, I've always gone through the windshield opening.

I replaced a floor pan in a 67 post car and left doors on, rolled down the rear windows and fit it through from the drivers side.

Have to ask how rolling down back windows on a sedan makes room?HT I can see but the sedan roll them down and the post is still there blocking the opening.Rocky

Maybe from feeding it into the car at an angle.

There is a solid post between the door window, and the rear windows.
There are cars with the post(sedan)and without(coupe).
Title says "post car".

Personally I don't see any benefit in cutting a one piece floor.
That said, removing the windshield is a small task compared to welding in the new floor.

It will go in through the door opening in one piece if you take off the door. R&R the door is a no brainer for me.

Correct! Doors left on, angled it in, but had to have the rear windows rolled down. 1967 Belvedere I post car.
And you can bend it to work it in. It was a nice western original pan I cut/drilled out of a car. It just fit in, tight, but it went in.

That’s kinda funny, because it’s a “reproduction” of the original floor pan, not some new “miracle” b-body replacement floor. Lol. AND I’m not poking fun at Jim, as I know him personally, just that statement itself I found amusing.... carry on

Any time you make stamping does to produce a part, original or reproduction, the tooling requires some development.

Remember, yup are shrinking and stretching metal, and that metal wants to stay in its original state, as a coil of sheet steel.
