Inital start up- No spark

Inital start up- No spark - 02/18/18 12:01 AM

Just tried to fired up my freshly rebuilt 440. No go. I have 12 volts to the end of the coil wire where it plugs into the distributor but when I put an inline tester on one of the plug wires it shows no spark.
I have the engine ground on the back of the engine attached to the fire wall.
This is a Firecore RTR system which eliminates the orange box and ballast resistor.
I have this set up in my 68 Charger and it fired first crack.
I also used a suction pump to pull fuel to to carb and dumped a small amount of fuel into the carb. I even installed this carb on my other Charger last week to make sure it worked properly.
If I screwed up the plug wiring wouldn't I at least have spark?

did you check at the coil as well? or only at each plug wire?

Charley. Yes. I have a buddy who is a mechanic coming over tomorrow. He's a hardcore Mopar guy. Pretty sure he can help figure it out.

Have U checked the reluctor gap?? If too wide the ignition won't fire..

Just my $0.02... wink

I checked it before I installed the distributor

Yes and it would be popping and farting out the carb. Rotor spinning under the cap? Rotor in place? Not in 180 degrees out(still should have spark)? I like using an actual plug with a ground wire attached to the threads of the plug. Good plug wires? Check them with an ohm meter? Swap out what you can one piece at a time with a good known unit. Or try swapping one piece at a time onto another vehicle (if available) in running condition.

Kinda funny. I Installed the new carb on my other Charger last weekend to make sure it worked before installing it on the latest moneypit. I didn't think of also doing that with the distributor. I could have since my other Charger also has a RTR set up. If we can't find a problem with the wiring tomorrow we will probably swap out the distributor.

Please call me tomorrow.. 216-224-3667.. We can go over some details.. These will not work with the stock points style voltage regulators. Also, where did you grab your 12 volts from? I've had some guys grab it off of the alternator...yes, the alternator..
