69 Road Runner Front Bucket Seat Hole Locations on Floor?

69 Road Runner Front Bucket Seat Hole Locations on Floor? - 01/18/18 08:46 PM

Does anyone have the correct floor hole location measurements for the front buckets on a 69 Road Runner? I puchased the car last fall and the floor has been replaced at some point, and whomever installed the seats went a bit nuts with the drill, as I have two locations for each of the four (8) holes for driver and passenger seat. Both my seats 'look' wrong when viewed from the front as they tend to both lean toward each other. This makes for poor balance when going around corners and freeway on/off ramps. I removed the wonky brackets someone installed for more leg room, but now I want to get them planted properly in the correct location. If I get the correct measurement for the outside front and rear hole, the inners should follow suit. Can anyone help with some measurements? As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It has been decades since I had a '69 RR, but for the most part, the original floor pans had 'dimples' for where to drill for bucket seats.

Do you have a photo of your floor with the carpet out?

Look from the underside. There are two brackets that attach to the inner rocker and follow the underside of the floor pan. There are holes that should line up with holes in the floor pan. Since you are going with buckets, there are usually two reinforcing plates that are welded to the floor pan. There should be dimples for those holes and the holes in the reinforcing plates should line up over them. You can see them in this photo I stole off the internet. I circled the brackets. This is a bucket seat car, you can see the inner studs and nuts too.

Thanks for the replies and the photos guys. Those definitely help. Admittedly, I have not removed the carpet yet, but the underside looks just like the internet photo shown, (even the sprayed on rustproofing) except I have TWO holes about 1.5" apart through the support bracket that goes toward the rocker. I'm going to measure both holes from the pinch flange, then compare to a friends 68 Charger R/T for reference. I assume the floor pans are similar for B bodies? (No Plymouth B bodies that I know of nearby to check...) Thanks again guys!

The reason your seats lean towards each other is because you're probably missing the reinforcement plates for the inner bolts OR the large spaces haven't been installed. These would raise that side of these seats by about 1/2".

Also, the outer holes were different for bench and bucket cars. So if one of the owners had converted to buckets like I did, he would have had to drill the extra two holes. And I never realized those inner brackets existed for years so I drove around with my seats slightly tilted also !!

Thanks for the info and the pic. Depending on which vendor used, I'm guessing some reproduction floor pans may not have the added supports? I'll know for sure when I pull up the carpet tonight.

When I removed the seat, all four of the bolts had the 1/2" phenolic spacers installed between the track bottom, and the carpet. I seem to recall on my 70 GTX, only the two rearward studs used these, but not the fronts? I could be wrong, it's been a while... (1985)

I'm pretty sure they all get the spacers - check the FSM.

The AMD floor pans have the plates. Can't say if others do. The plates are not hard to fabricate - I took a pattern from the drivers side and reversed them for the passenger side and shaped them around a welding tank. I think I have an original spare set for the driver side.

AMD makes the plates & yes all get the rubber spacers
