check out Crutchfield.com. They have a unit that I believe will work.

This looks like an old post , but yes, we can take your factory AM radio and convert to AM FM stereo with 180 watts and aux jacks and you can run up to 4 speakers while the radio will remain 100 % stock in appearance on the outside.

Wasn't there someone making new thumb wheel radios with modern sound? I remember looking at them but now I can't find the source.
