1969 Road Runner Wiring Harnesses

1969 Road Runner Wiring Harnesses - 12/29/17 01:41 AM

Stupid question. I have a 69 Road Runner that was re-wired years ago with a Painless kit. I'd like to re-wire the car again using reproduction harnesses.

1. I don't know if all the harnesses I need are even reproduced; does anyone know?

2. I don't even know what all harnesses I need? For example, dash harness, forward light harness, engine harness and ext. I know the main ones but, I don't want to get into the job and realize there is some small stupid harness that I don't have and that no one reproduces it.

Again, everything is painless wiring at this time. Every schematic I've looked at doesn't show harnesses seperately, just all of the wires for all of the harnesses.

Any help would be appreciated.

The car is a 383/727 car without AC, light package or any other options, Just a plain jane column shift, bench seat car.

Thanks!

Overhead courtesy light harness.
Wiper motor harness
Power supply harness from battery to starter/relay and bulkhead.
Maybe turn signal harness.
Transmission harness. (neutral safety and backup light switch)
I can't remember if heater harness is separate.
I think the one going to the floor dimmer switch is separate
Fusible link.
Light harness for shift position in column.

There may be one or two more little ones under the dash.
Most of the above are small but they are separate and they are there.

Year One has the best made harnesses.

Thanks for all of the replies. I've noticed that Year One does currently have a 30% coupon; it's tempting but, I don't think I have the money right now.

I have the overhead courtesy light harness, My wiper motor harness is there but needs some help, my turn signal harness is a new NOS one I bought a few years ago, I'll need a new neutral safety back up harness, I have the light harness for the shifter position in the column and I'll have to look at what is currently there for the dimmer switch. If I can remember when I was under there the last time, I think the heater box harness was there or maybe it was some wiring for the radio; I'll have to look again.

It sounds like I have most of the small stupid stuff and can get the rest from M&H via Year One.

Thanks again!

Also check Evanswiring.com, they have most except for the dash harness. I have used their harnesses on a few cars. My last two were 69 RR's.

I used the Year One dash and engine compartment wiring harnesses in my 72 Challenger.
Good stuff.

I've used harnesses from Bill and Rose Evans in all my Mopars. Great people and quick response to shipping out orders.

As previously mentioned, you will need to contact Year One or Classic Industries for dash harnesses.

Someone mark me if I am wrong, but I believe the Year One harnesses are made by Evans. I custom wired my car with an American Autowire kit and worked with Evans on bits and pieces. Very nice folk who know their mopar.

I highly recommend you replace your bulkhead connector. If you have a painless system, your fuse panel is likely FUBAR and replaced by the one in the Painless kit. Also, they likely reused all of your connectors when they installed the Painless kit. KEEP THEM ALL!!!

I think you are correct about Evans and Year One.

M&H makes Year One harness's
Evans is on his own
you have to go over Evans stuff closely as
people have had problems with loose crimps with him.
