Electrical question 70 challenger - 12/17/17 01:56 AM

So when I start my car the gauges and all accessories take a while to work. The fuse block is two parts. two leads energizes the parts that I'm talking about. Its cold and seems that when it warms up it works. The delay is longer the colder it is. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm thinking something is contracting with the cold and makes contact when warm? Thanks. Geoff

Might be the gauge regulator behind the panel.

Thanks, It is somewhere pre fuse block, when warm all works fine when cold nothing works for a few minutes then works. Gremlins...

It is on the back of the panel, with the gauges.

Google or eBay to get a pic of it (if needed).

gauges and all accessories

gauge regulator will have zero effect on accessories.

Odds are whatever is feeding the regulator is also feeding the accessories and it's probably the ignition switch that is flaky.

Get the FSM and a meter to troubleshoot.

EZ to troubleshoot..
Get a schematic and volt/ohm meter.
Sounds like a high resistance/bad connection, a couple places to check are:
1. Ignition switch
2. Bulkhead connectors
3. (2) Flat-inline connectors that go in/out the steering column up to the ignition switch
4. Connections to amp guage

Just my $0.02.. wink
