1965 A100 Auto Trans Cable Question

Shifter cable broke and when I removed it I found the spring on the cable adaptor looks funky. Can someone tell me if this needs replaced? What is the part number?

That's normal - the male end of your cable slips in to this adapter and a groove in the cable tip engages that "coil" spring.

Thanks Transman!! Any idea where I can get a cable that doesn't leave me in the poor house? Is it possible to reattach the shifter end, looks like it came loose, didn't break (attaches to shifter on dash)

Been a while since I looked at one but if I recall correctly the end was crimped on. If yours pulled out of the end ( shifter end is flat I think ) then try to reinsert it and crimp again. Or if it will insert again but not crimp maybe silver solder it? Let us know if that works.

My son is finishing up his A100 - I'll take a look at his cable and see how long it is. I just may have an extra cable buried in the garage somewhere.

My son was close on his A100 then his uncle called him in 2011. When he got back from Afghanistan he started collecting what parts he was missing. Engine has to come back out as it has been setting too long but we are close to lighting it up. Good luck on your project.

I have several cables laying around. If you can't find one get me the length and I will see what I have. I have them both for A100 and D100, I am sure there is a length difference.
