Car steering wheel in a truck?

I'm looking at a steering wheel in Classic Industries that's listed for Dart, Duster, Cuda etc. My question is, isn't the column adapter for a car and truck the same?

Sometimes the wheel is designed to install to a can type adapter that might be stock on some vehicles. You may need to buy an adapter for your application...

With the adapter it would fit any column but it might change your wheel position in or out up to 5 inches. It does not give details on the adapter.

It would not move it much. What wheel is it replacing?

70 and newer mopars have 2 different splines that I'm aware of
B and E Body use one and A Body and truck use another

I don't think that's the adapter that comes in the kit. It looks more like an aluminum one. They kind of show it on the second picture in the link, it's just hard to see. I figured you're right it will change the location either closer or farther. My main concern is if the diameter of the adapter will match the diameter of the column.

That's so weird because they say in their add that it fits E body and A body along with C body lol...

I think the wheels are more year specific than car line specific.
The big difference I see is the key in dash compared to key in column.

Not sure just what you are wanting to put this wheel on, but I put a stock '66 Coronete wheel on my 77 B-200 van.
It physically fit, (i.e. The splines were the same), but was a tad shy on the outside diameter of the wheel and the open ended column was visible around the outside circumference of the wheel.
I also have a '70s aftermarket wheel that I took off a '69 Dart in the '80's currently on my '76 D-200 pickup. The splines match up and adapter cover on that looks and works just fine.

Don't know which wheel you're looking at , but my 84 Ram had a very good looking Tuff wheel from the factory. I had 4 spokes instead of the 3 like the cars had, and was a tilt column.

They look pretty good in an e-body to boot.

Those 84 tilt column wheels are probably the best looking wheel Ma ever made in my opinion.

The link posted by "DarrenS" shows the adapter I have on my '76 D-200 truck with an after market wheel I took off a '69 Dart.
It states it is for the 60's.
The other wheel that was on my '77 van was factory stock off a '66 B body, these all had the same spline.
I also had the wheel currently in my 76 truck in the 77 van at one time.

Is yours just turned, or installed upside down? The seam went on the bottom. Just curious. Yes I bought that truck new, and really liked the tilt wheel.

Basically if the wheel you are putting in is flatter than the stock one it could hit the shifter or signal switch (unless the adapter moves it out).

The adapter I showed covers the hole in the end of the column but it does go narrower than a stock ebody setup for instance.

I believe the wheel you are looking at will fit the 75 key in column truck just fine.

The main differences I have found are between tilt and standard columns, the spline for all the interchanges I have attempted have worked out straight column to straight column, no problem.

For instance, I have used the 4 spoke Omni/Horizon rubber rim wheel in both my '85 and a previous 93 D150.

Tilt to tilt, to problem.

AND, I am pretty sure the tilt columns have the same spline as GM vehicles, as I am pretty sure the tilt columns are built by Saginaw.

Yes I am lol... I wish Classic Industries would show a better picture of the adapter that comes in that kit. You can barely see the adapter in their add but who knows if that's the actual picture of what you're getting. I guess I need someone who has bought this kit to send a picture of their install.

69 and older have the same spline as 70 and up, but the column diameter on the 70 and up is a lot larger due to the key in the column. this requires a larger adapter "can" to cover the column internals. i installed a small diameter C body wheel on my 74 D100, and it fit perfectly. i also installed said wheel [one identical to it] on a 72 sattelite. same great fit. splines are the same as had been mentioned between column types, straight to straight, and saginaw tilt/tilt-tele columns. 69 charger wheel to 64 barracuda [straight columns], 64 barracuda to 48 plymouth [!], same spline, but the 48 column diameter was way smaller than the 64 barracuda, necessitating a custom fabbed cover. just some of the many swaps i have preformed in over 50 years of playing with these things.

So it sounds like the wheel at Classic Industries that's list for 70'-75' cars will work on my 75' D100. Sweet!
