Thought he 67 was the low one. 68 being the first for the 906 head

Does the 1967 intake have the small AFB carb. bolt pattern or the larger AVS pattern? scope I think some of the Chrysler non HP 440 C body engines came with Holley carbs also confused

Yes: The 67 has the small AFB, 68 has the larger AVS. I thought the manifolds were different however everywhere lists the same casting #.

Both have the same casting Number. 2806178 but I was just going by the stamping date. the 67 is 5-67 the 68 is 12-17-68. I will have to go to shop tomorrow as the 68 has some kind of weird carb and plate on it. I will pop it off . The 67 seems to have small intake holes in it.

Same casting number, same intake. The 375 hp rated 440s from 67 have the 178 intake. The 350 hp 440s might have the lower manifold, as someone suggested.

ALL 440's from 1967 through 1969 model years had the same intake manifold. Just bolt On the carb, choke, and vacuum fitting for your car.

The small mouth AFB from the 375 horse 440 engine has the wide bolt pattern on it. The 1967 383 small mouth AFB has the narrow bolt pattern. This might cause some confusion.

Yes the 350 horse C body had holleys, but the intake is not different.

Don't confuse casting number with part number. A casting can be machined into many different part numbers.

That's what I was wondering too. Those 67 carbs had small throttle bores I believe.

Re: any difference between a 67 and 68 -440 intake - 10/22/17 08:37 PM

Let's not try to make this harder than it really is.

The intakes are the same on 1967-1969 440 engines. 2806178

There's really nothing more to say about it.

1967 440 magnum carbs have 1 11/16 throttle plates, all 4 the same size.

Remember the good old days when you could buy a full size 440 Mopar for $300 and drive it? Well the first thing to do was toss the junk factory Holley and put on a 440 HP AVs carb and they always bolt right on to the intake.

No.

The AFB carbs have smaller bases, the AVS carbs have a larger base ( where the air filter sits).....

Ok since I started this I just went out and took of the carb that was on the 68 Manifold with a spacer plate. (unknown what the heck it is) Both the 67and 68 side by side have Same casting numbers all 8 bores 1-11/16". The only difference I could see was the casting dates. My 625 Carter AFB comp series fit on both and carb plates opened up on manifolds.
Originally I was just wondering if there was any performance difference, but I guess we answered that now.

I do thank you for all the replies.
